We need to bring some Tory common sense and rigour to our social problems. The most efficient political system is venitism, where everything is private, there are no taxes at all, there is no parliament, and a powerless infinitesimal government is chosen and supported not by hoi polloi, but by the most generous benefactors.

Such simple words to use, but all too absent from our politics in recent years. Common sense and rigour are part of our core beliefs as Tories. And we're going to bring them to government.
So we will cut back the bureaucracy imposed on the police, and free our officers to provide the sort of high visibility, zero-tolerance, beat-based policing that communities really want.
We will untangle the giant knot of health and safety rules and regulations which prevent so many people from engaging with their local community or volunteering to help children.
And we will insist on rigour at the heart of the curriculum in our schools. Basil Venitis asserts there is no direct relationship between education and schooling. You might be schooled but uneducated, and you might be educated but unschooled. Schools are concentration camps for the drones of society. Unschooling is much better than schooling. Internet is the best source of knowledge and information, replacing schools, libraries, media, parliaments, and postoffice.
No longer will so many children leave primary school unable to read and write, or leave secondary school with no sense of our island story. And no longer will we put up with an exam system that tests credibility rather than pupils.
Indeed, what sort of country have we become in which authors are not allowed to go into our schools and inspire children with a love of books without first going through criminal vetting?
And let me tell you something else: I never again want to hear of a hospital that is so obsessed with meeting government targets that it allows patients to go unwashed and unfed. Venitis points out that we have a socialist-communist system of distributing medical care. Instead of letting people hire their own physicians and pay them, no one pays his or her own medical bills. Instead, there's a third party payment system. It is a communist system and it has a communist result.
Despite this, we've had numerous miracles in medical science. From the discovery of penicillin, to new surgical techniques, to MRIs and CAT scans, the last 30 or 40 years have been a period of miraculous change in medical science. On the other hand, we've seen costs skyrocket. Nobody is happy: physicians don't like it, patients don't like it. Why? Because none of them are responsible for themselves. You no longer have a situation in which a patient chooses a physician, receives a service, gets charged, and pays for it.
There is no direct relation between the patient and the physician. The physician is an employee of an insurance company or an employee of the government. Today, a third party pays the bills. As a result, no one who visits the doctor asks what the charge is going to be, somebody else is going to take care of that. The end result is third party payment and, worst of all, third party treatment.
And this approach, based upon common sense and rigour, must start at the top - with the way politicians spend taxpayers' money. This year Whigs are spending more on debt interest than on our schools. That makes no sense whatsoever. So we need to act fast to cut our debts - to protect our frontline services.
There is nothing progressive about piling taxes like the jobs tax on working people and firms trying to keep their heads above water. There is nothing progressive about putting people out of work. For every pound wasted on a public sector fat cat, a bloated quango, a computer programme that never works, that is a pound less to spend on our schools, our hospitals, our police forces and our social services.So we won't wait to slice out the waste.
If we win the election on May 6, we will start rooting it out on May 7. So this, in a nutshell, is how we will set out to rebuild the broken society.

Η ΜΕΤΑΦΡΑΣΗ ΤΟΥ ΚΕΙΜΕΝΟΥ ΕΧΕΙ ΩΣ ΕΞΗΣ:

Το κείμενο κανει κριτικη στο υπαρχον συστημα της αγγλιας και πιο συγκεκριμενα στη σοσιαλιστικη πολιτικη που ακολουθουσε η κυβερνηση του Μπλερ. Εξαιρει τις αρετες της συντηριτικης πολιτικης την οποια χαρακτηριστικα ονομαζει προοδευτικη και δικαιη. Αναφερεται κυριως στο συστημα υγειας και παιδειας της Αγγλιας το οποιο ο συγγραφεας υποστηριζει οτι χρειαζεται αμεση αναδιαρθρωση. Εντοπιζει το προβλημα στους αναριθμητους νομους που εχουν ψηφιστει τα τελευταια χρονια και εχουν σχεση με την υγεια και την ασφαλεια(health and safety regulations). Στο ονομα της υγειας και της ασφαλειας εχουν θεσπιστει μια σειρα κανονισμων και απαγορευσεων που ορισμενες φορες ξεπερνουν τα ορια καθε λογικης. Δινω ενα παραδειγμα για να καταλαβεις περι τινος προκειται: Αν για παραδειγμα μια μαμα που ειναι στις κουνιες με το παιδακι της δει ενα αλλο παιδακι να πεφτει κατω και να χτυπαει δεν μπορει να παει και να το σηκωσει γιατι μπορει να θεωρηθει παιδοφιλη και αν γινει καταγγελια απο καποιον αυτοπτη μαρτυρα η γυναικα παει φυλακη!!! Επισης ενα παραδειγμα που αναφερεται μεσα στο κειμενο ειναι οτι δεν μπορει ενας συγγραφεας να παει σε ενα σχολειο και να μιλησει στα παιδακια για τα βιβλια ηιατι πρεπει πριν να περασει απο μια συνθετη διαδικασια ελεγχου του παρελθοντος του ετσι ωστε να εξασφαλιστει οτι δεν εχει κατηγορηθει για παιδοφιλια η για βιαιη συμπεριφορα.



Το συστημα υγειας της Αγγλιας χαρακτηριζεται στο κειμενο ως κομουνιστικο. Στην Αγγλια δεν επιλεγεις εσυ το γιατρο σου, αλλα πηγαινεις στο νοσοκομειο, συμπληρωνεις μια φορμα και σου οριζουν αυτοι τον προσωπικο σου παθολογο. Οι υπηρεσιες που σου προσφερει αυτος ο γιατρος δεν πληρωνονται αμεσα μετα την επισκεψη, αλλα το κοστος για την ιατρικη περιθαλψη ειναι ενσωματομενο στη βαρεια φορολογια που πληρωνουν οι Αγγλοι πολιτες. Υπαρχει δηλαδη ενα τριτο σωμα, το οποιο παρεμβαλεται μεταξυ του γιατρου και του ασθενη και διαχειριζεται τα οικονομικα ζητηματα. Δεν εχει κανεις την δυνατοτητα επιλογης ενος παθολογου η ενος νοσοκομειου που προσφερει υπηρεσιες υψλης ποιοτητας αλλα σε πιο ανταγωνιστικες τιμες.


Τελος οι κανονισμοι υγειας και ασφαλειας(health and safety regulations) εχουν απαγορευσει απο τις αστυνομικες δυναμεις να χρησιμοποιουν καθε ειδους βια προς τους πολιτες. Στο αρθρο αναφερεται συγκεκριμενα οτι το πλανο των συντηριτικων για την αναδιαρθρωση της αστυνομιας θα εχει σαν στοχο την καταλυση αυτου του γραφειοκρατικου συστηματος. Κατα λεξη αναφερει: "Θα δωσουμε την ελευθερια που χρειαζεται στους αστυνομικους μας ετσι ωστε να τους δωθει η ευκαιρια να εχουν μηδενικη ανοχη, και να μπορουν να ακολουθουν πολιτικη ξυλοκοπησης των πολιτων" η οποια συμφωνα με τον συγγραφεα "ειναι αυτο ακριβως που χρειαζεται η συγχρονη αγγλικη κοινωνια".
